 1. Whitehaven Beach, Whitsundays, Australia

Whitehaven beach in the Whitsundays is not only one of the most beautiful beaches in the world but it’s also located in our home country of Australia. It has often been named the most beautiful beach in Australia which is no easy feat considering that the country is filled to the brim with beaches.

To those of you wondering if Whitehaven beach really is as pretty as the pictures online I can say that it truly is. However if you want to see the swirling sands you’ll have to arrange a visit at low tide. If you happen to visit at high tide, don’t worry – the beach still has crystal clear water and beautiful views for you to see from one of the best beaches of the world.

2. Any beach in the San Blas Islands

The San Blas Islands are absolutely breathtaking, with many having what could be described as the top beaches in the world, but most are lacking luxury digs. This means if you can’t downgrade for a night or two than you’ll have to arrange a day trip to explore these stunning islands.

The San Blas Islands range in size with many being as tiny and picturesque as the one pictured above, nearly all with crystal clear water beckoning you to jump in and go for a swim.

To explore the San Blas Islands you can to hop on a boat tour from Panama city. Click here for Panama City hotel prices.

 3. Ipanema Beach, Brazil

This beach is a little different to the others on this list as the focus isn’t just on the water. Ipanema beach is famous in Brazil and throughout the world due to the stunning scenery surrounding it comprising of tall buildings and the mountains in the background.

With the liberal attitudes towards swimwear coverage Ipanema is also one of the top beaches in the world to get that tan of yours to reach past your classic bikini line.

 4. El Nido, Philippines

El Nido, while perhaps not as well known as Ipanema, is a very popular beach for visitors to the lovely country of the Philippines. This beach may just be the most breathtaking with unique scenery abound, karsts and clear blue water reach as far as the eye can see.

IT may be a little pricy if you are flying in from the US, but for Australians and New Zealanders getting to the Philippines is only a little bit more expensive than flying to Bali or Thailand.

 5.  Cala Gonone, Sardinia

Sardinia has been a bucketlist item of mine for a long time and now I’ve found one extra top beach to add to my list. Unique rock formations and the sweet blue ocean greet tourists lucky enough to visit Cala Gonone. This is one of the top beaches in the world for travelers who want to visit Italy/ Sardinia.

 6. Anse Georgette, Seychelles

Set among an array of giant bolders, Anse Georgette is perhaps the most famous beach heralding from the Seychelles. White sand, blue water and epic views – what more could you ask for?

 7. Pedn Vounder, Cornwall

If you’re from England you’ve probably heard of Cornwall but for the rest of us it looks like we’ve just found an unexpected gem. When I think of English I think of bad weather and lots of buildings – so finding Cornwall completely changed my assumptions.

While its a little hard to access, which keeps it from becoming over crowded, Pedn Vounder is a great spot to relax during the summer.

8. Grace Bay Beach, Turks and Caicos

I’m sure there isn’t much explanation needed as to why Grace Bay Beach is in our top beaches in the world list. The relatively calm blue beach looks perfect for either sunbathing or swimming in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Do you really need another excuse to visit this beautiful destination?

I am SO happy to see that Sardinia has made you list!! It always seems to be forgotten amongst the most beautiful places in the world. My family and my husband is from here and we spend our every summer here. It is a MUST-SEE, especially Cala Gonone!!

I didn’t see that beach in Sardinia, but all the beaches there are quite lovely. I just wanted to recommend it to you because, on top of the beaches, it has so much to offer. Cagliari is a great Italian city with medieval buildings etc, you can visit Roman ruins like those near Santa Margarita de Pula, there are even pre-Roman ruins up in the hills. We visited these beehive shaped ruins somewhere near Arbatax I think- it’s a while ago now- and the country up in the hills there is very quiet, a little weird really, can’t explain why, just a great atmosphere. Other worldly. Then there are flamingos too in Cagliari. Anyway, keep Sardinia on your list, it’s amazing.

This is a great list but it’s missing one – Lake Tahoe. Once you see the shores of this crowned jewel of the Sierras you’ll understand why it should be on this list especially that it has 4 distinct seasons. I would also add one of the Great Lakes as well onto this list.
